Post-weight loss surgery – arm lift

This is an intervention to tauten sagging skin on the arms, which usually occurs after weight loss. An arm lift is usually combined with liposuction for an even more harmonious, natural result.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

When there is very little excess skin, the scar is under the armpit. In more standard cases, the scar is along the inner arm.
  • How long before you can resume normal activity?
You can return to work after 7-15 days and resume sport after about 2 months.
  • What interventions can be combined with an arm lift?

Post-weight loss surgery – thigh lift

This is an intervention to tauten skin on the inner thighs. It can also remove excess fat when a liposuction is not enough. This intervention is regularly combined with a thigh liposuction.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Why undergo this intervention rather than simple liposuction?
Surgeons can choose to offer liposuction alone or combined with a thigh lift. It depends on the amount of excess fat and sagging skin on the inner thighs.

Dr Thierry Bron - Augmentation mammaire par technique composite

Post-weight loss surgery – Breast lift

Also called mastopexy, this is a surgical procedure on sagging breasts (breast ptosis). The intervention restores the nipples and areola to their correct position and lifts the breasts. It can also be combined with breast-prosthesis insertion when the breasts do not have enough volume.

EXTRA

Crisalix is 3D simulation software that shows the results of aesthetic surgery. This tool helps patients better express their request and enables surgeons to give clear, reasoned explanations. Patients are therefore better informed when they decide to have an operation.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Is there major scarring?
Breast-lift scarring can be in 3 parts:
    – a circular scar around the areola (always)
    – a vertical scar between the lower pole of the areola and the submammary fold (frequently)
    – a horizontal scar in the submammary fold (inverted T-shape)
  • Can you breastfeed after a breast lift?
The ducts delivering milk to the nipples are not touched during the intervention. It is therefore entirely possible to breastfeed after a breast lift.
  • How old you have to be to have a breast lift?
It can be done from the age of 17, which is when your breasts are fully developed. You must have parental consent for this. The earlier the intervention is carried out, the more satisfactory the results will be.

Dr Thierry Bron - Abdominoplastie ou lifting du ventre

Post-weight loss surgery – Stomach lift

An abdominoplasty is the most comprehensive intervention on the stomach. It tautens the skin when it is too distended for a simple liposuction.
A mini-abdominoplasty tautens the abdomen. It is recommended in cases of excess skin beneath the belly button and can be combined with liposuction.

EXTRA

Crisalix is 3D simulation software that shows the results of aesthetic surgery. This tool helps patients better express their request and enables surgeons to give clear, reasoned explanations. Patients are therefore better informed when they decide to have an operation.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Can you lose weight by undergoing an abdominoplasty?
Weight loss during the operation is 1-3 kg. You will lose weight by a healthy lifestyle.
  • Can an abdominoplasty remove stretch marks?
This intervention tautens the skin, which smooths out stretch marks. Stretch marks beneath the belly button disappear as the skin is tautened. Stretch marks above the belly button will be moved further down, just above the scar.
  • How long does it take to obtain a definitive result?
An abdominoplasty gives immediate results. The definitive result is obtained after 3 months, once the oedema has completely disappeared.

Before the intervention

  • 2 consultations need to be arranged: one with the plastic surgeon and the other with the anaesthetist.
  • Stop smoking 1 month before the intervention
  • Stop taking oral contraceptives 1 month before the intervention.
  • Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs for 10 days before the intervention.
  • Pre-operative photographs are taken.

  • General anaesthetic.
  • Duration of the intervention: 2-2.5 hours on average.
